Quality left-arm seamers are a rare commodity in international cricket and Namibia are lucky enough to have one. Ruben Trumpelmann was born in Durban, South Africa and currently plays for the Namibian cricket team.
He has risen through the age-group cricket in Namibia and was a part of the Namibian U-15 squad. He made his first-class debut in 2017 and since then has been one of the most consistent players in the domestic circuit.
Trumpelmann rose to prominence in the 2018-19 CSA Provincial Cup, where he finished as the leading wicket-taker for the Northerns with 23 scalps in eight matches.
In March 2021, Trumpelmann was included in the Namibia T20I squad to face Uganda. But he didn’t feature in any of the matches. His dream was always to play the World Cup and that wish was fulfilled when he was drafted into the Namibian squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
In Namibia’s Super 12 league stage game against Scotland, Trumpelmann showcased his bowling skills and completely dismantled the Scottish top-order. He picked up 3 for 17 and was the chief destroyer of the Scottish batting lineup.
A rising star of Namibian cricket, Trumpelmann is the future of Namibian cricket and has to be nurtured properly. He has all the tools necessary to become a world-class fast bowler.
